THETA

THETA is a Ugandan National Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) committed to improving the health of Ugandans by promoting collaboration between the traditional and biomedical health systems.

Community Health

1. HIV Prevention care and support(PCTS)
2. Maternal sexual and reproductive health(MSRH)
3. Child Health (CH) -key focus on childhood nutrition
4. Control of non communicable diseases(NCD)-with focus on reproductive health and child hood cancers and hypertension

Medical Care

1. Supporting the training and clinical research function of THETA
2. Serving as a model center for integration of traditional and modern medicine
3. Provision of HIV prevention care and treatment for the corporate
4. General medical care to the environs of THETA

Traditional Medicine and Natural Health

1. Training; - professionalizing of practice traditional medicine
2. Value addition to herbal medicine and natural products
3. Documentation of safe and effective herbal products
4. Developing of effective collaboration models between traditional and biomedical health practitioners
5. Strengthening capacity for sustainable use of medical plants
6. Advocacy for integration of traditional medicine in national health system

Research, Monitoring and Evaluation

1. Development of research agenda for Medicare, Community Health and Traditional Medicine
2. Research in social and behavioural aspects of HIV and traditional medicine
3. Partnership for capacity building for M&E
4. Advocacy for community M&E systems
5. Community health information systems(CHIS)
6. Community strengthening
