The focus of THETA’s programs is to improve the health of rural Ugandans by involving Uganda’s traditional health practitioners through training in health education, counseling, and in community support initiatives for the vulnerable such as women, orphans and persons living with HIV/AIDs.  THETA’s programs are designed to build in-depth relationships between traditional health practitioners, biomedical health workers, and local communities based on mutual respect, openness and trust.

THETA has continuing research on the effectiveness of certain herbal remedies indigenous to Africa, especially those used by healers to treat HIV/AIDS-related conditions.
